"Best service we have ever experienced. Greeted like family and treated like long lost friends.

Warm fire glowing in our bedroom was most pleasant surprise
We have stayed in many places and the only one that comes close is Rampsbeck in Ullswater. Adrtara is better and Valerie deserves praise. I note she is mentioned in most reviews and deservedly so. I hope the owner takes note"!!

"My Sister-in-Law and I enjoyed a week-end break in the Ardtara House Hotel and loved every minute of it !! The food was gorgeous, and the attention we received was incomparable. We would like to thank Valerie and her lovely staff for a wonderful week-end. They really made our short holiday unforgettable"!

"Two friends and I stayed here for a night-- so wished we could have stayed longer! We happened to be the only guests that night- they put us in 2 huge rooms (bathrooms were beautiful too!) with scenic views. Head chef came in and cooked us a fantastic 4 course dinner (to rival any of the best restaurants!) They set the table in front of a fire and the service was great. After dinner they had a computer where we could check emails for free-- it was great- would love to visit again"!!!

"I was fortunate enough to have booked my wedding at Ardtara House for September 2009. The staff (especially Valerie & Nicola) were fabulous during the year with my preparations. I initially wanted to get married on the grounds but with the time of year we had agreed on the dining area for our service. But what I didn't expect was a fantastic Indian Summer and I got Married on the grounds (stunning) with 21 degrees and the sun baking. Valerie along with the florist(Stephen Mallon) had the grounds looking stunning. I cannot thank them enough for their help during the year and hopefully we will return for a stay on our anniversary. Thank you Valerie. I will post photos of the beautiful setting very soon". God Bless Esther & Colm Toner

Magazine Reviews:

“This nine-bedroom inn is tucked inside eight forested acres, which ensures tranquility.  The house operates a gourmet restaurant as well, with both menu and wine list brief yet superb.”

“The dining room at Ardtara – and [Manager] Valerie’s welcome – embody the true meaning of 'restaurant'.  It is a place where civilisation reigns and you are genuinely restored to sanity.”
The Cultured Traveller

“And so to an overnight stay at Ardtara [Country] House.  Billed as 'Ireland's Most Romantic Hotel,' this is exactly what it turned out to be."  Especially memorable was 'the best meal the Elliott clan have enjoyed for many a year'.”
Golf Monthly

“We were both impressed by the main courses, the McKees roast sirloin beef with Yorkshire pudding, mushroom and red wine gravy and corn fed chicken supreme with French beans, roasted baby potatoes and spicy Cajun sauce.”
Sunday Life

“I used to think it was the best little country house hotel in the world,..it may be the best in the Universe.”

“The staff at the stately Ardtara Country House are so friendly that arriving here feels like coming home.  It's in a glade on the edge of town, a half hour's drive from the coast, and offers superb fare and sublimely comfortable rooms, each with a glowing fireplace.”
